Irving is located in Dallas County, Texas and according to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2000 is the 12th largest city in Texas with a population estimate of 191,695. The US Census Bureau July 1st, 2006 list of the most populous incorporated places in the United States ranks Irving as the 108th most populous city in the U.S.

Irving is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex with part of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport found inside city limits. You’ll find Irving 12 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas and 17 miles northeast of Arlington. It’s also not far from large cities such as Grand Prairie and Carrollton. Irving is close to the smaller populaces of Farmers Branch, Coppell, Euless, and Grapevine as well as the even smaller communities of Highland Park and Cockrell Hill.

With 76,241 households and 46,202 families residing in the city, population density nears 2,850 people per square mile and there are 80,293 housing units.

The city has a total area of 67.7 square miles, of which, 67.2 square miles of it is land and 0.4 square miles of it is water.

Grapevine Lake, a reservoir, is adjacent to the city and the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is located within the city’s limits.
