NASTY & SMELLY Crawl Space?

Friday, April 7th, 2017 by Heather Price

Mold and Mildew

Crawl spaces create the ideal environment for mildew and mold.  Water from a damp ground, water vapor that enters through crawl space vents, and moisture seeping through porous concrete allows for this perfect environment.  Often times homeowners are using their crawl spaces for additional storage, so what happens in these scenarios is the mildew or mold will adhere to the surface of the items being stored, such as cardboard boxes.

The Stack Effect

The "stack effect" is when the home sucks up air from the crawl space into the main area of the home.  When this happens, any mold and mildew, decomposition odors, and materials from dust mites that are present in the crawl space will come up with the air.  This could result in many health issues like breathing problems and inducing allergies.

CleanSpace® Encapsulation

Our solution for keeping up with your crawl space is a CleanSpace® Encapsulation.  CleanSpace® is a sheet of white water-proof poly that is securely fastened to the crawl space walls, creating a barrier against any moisture that allows for mold and mildew.   As an added bonus, the CleanSpace® also protects your home from the musty odors, bugs, rodents and critters.  So when the "stack-up" effect takes place, the air that is being sucked up through the house is clean of any molds and mildews or dusts from mites and such.
